History of Rock Hill
Rock Hill, South Carolina is the largest city in York County. With its rich history and genuine southern hospitality, Rock Hill offers something for everyone. Rock Hill Culture
The Arts Council of York County is located in historic Old Town, connecting people through art, dance, culture, drama, film and music. It hosts the Annual Blues and Jazz Festival, a growing, thriving 3-day festival that brings great opportunities to come together and enjoy the music that America made.
Comporium Telephone Museum, located in Old Town, offers a unique look at the history of communication from the telegraph to rotary phone to the latest internet technology. With hands-on exhibits for interactive learning, visitors also learn what it takes to keep communications operations running smoothly each day. The facility offers tours for schools and other groups by appointment. Admission is free.
Museum of York County – there is something for everyone here, featuring nature displays and a planetarium.
The NarroWay Theatre features live large-scale theatre productions and original Broadway-style shows. Take in a delicious dinner and a hearty serving of Southern hospitality as every audience is greeted and served by the NarroWay cast. NarroWay inspires and entertains people of all ages. And while Broadway-style shows are their trademark, NarroWay also offers mystery theatre, holiday events, field trips for children and experiential tours for all ages.
Last but not least, The Old Town Amphitheatre is located in the heart of downtown and hosts big name older bands.

Rock Hill Sports Parks
Novant Health BMX Supercross Track – Bicycle motocross, or “BMX”, is one of the fastest growing areas in both the professional and amateur cycling scenes. BMX racing consists of a dirt track where cyclists race across the hills, jumps and banked turns. This is the only Olympic-caliber BMX training facility on the east Coast. The site hosts local state, regional and national events and was chosen to host the 2017 BMX World Championships. The facility also provides instruction and programs for all ages and skill levels.
Cherry Park – Rock Hill’s premier softball and baseball facility nestled in a beautiful 68-acre park with scenic trails, large playground and park amenities including concessions. Cherry Park is inducted into the National Softball Association’s Hall of Fame. The Park provides year round athletic programs for youth and adults and is proud to host some of the largest tournaments in the country.
At the entrance, there is a bronze statue of “Mighty Casey”, the subject of Ernest Lawrence Thayer’s poem “Casey at the Bat”.
Manchester Meadows, one of Rock Hill’s newest parks, is a 70-acre park in a beautifully landscaped setting that has quickly captured the interest of park and soccer enthusiasts locally, regionally and nationally, hosting numerous soccer tournaments. The park has soccer fields and a soccer pavilion, trails, amenities, and year-round youth and adult athletic programs.
Glencairn Garden – beautifully landscaped lawns and walkways have made it a popular attraction among residents and visitors. What started as the backyard garden of David and Hazel Bigger in 1928 is now an 11-acre paradise located in the heart of Rock Hill. The garden boasts a variety of blooms year round, and features a learning center and Veterans’ Garden.

The Come-See-Me Festival is a family-friendly 10-day event that takes place each April to celebrate Springtime, Rock Hill’s most beautiful season. With more than 70 events throughout Rock Hill, it is considered the biggest all-volunteer festival in South Carolina and has been ranked in the south’s Top 20 Spring festivals for multiple years and has been awarded the South Carolina event of the Year.
Boo Ha Ha – Annual Halloween Festival, a family-friendly alternative to Trick or Treating.
Christmasville – Award-winning holiday festival with over 70 events and 20 tons of real snow!
